Hmmmm … lets see … I have been and still am in some cases, an altar boy, little leaguer, mountain climber, speelunker, fly fisherman, railroader, medic, mycophage, deckhand, interior designer/remodeler, builder, fisherman, actor, playwright, director, dancer, potter/muralist, astrologist, inventor, entrepeneur, corporation president, yogin, meditator, seeker/spiritualist, intuitive, intention coach, mentor, sponsor, egotist, husband, father, cat/dog-lover/hater, good neighbor, political activist, campaign strategist, materials researcher and experimentalist. 

Today, I am a student again, still a father, not a husband, and, since I recently discovered (much to my chagrin,) that, thought for thought, I am creating my reality, I have thus chosen to return to *art* full time.  I suppose that is all I ever have been and ever will be and I double suppose that it is high time to take it seriously.

Within, I have discovered a heroic archetype who seems a bit pissed with me that I have been dinking around all these years toying with my gifts and responsibilities.  Oh, have I had the excuses!  Not enough ATTENTION!  Not enough APPROVAL!!  Way to little RECOGNITION!!!  All my energy gone into looking good (blaming others for my failures and indescretions) while suffering silently in my little victim/martyr secret garden.

Hence my *story* became this honey bucket of fibs, lies, big-ass lies and other ignorations.  I became preoccupied with keeping a tight lid on the whole mess while still effecting a passable look-good.  What a drag!

Now, after some humbling years of re-evaluation and re-tooling, I have come to learn that a lot of my so-called stores of knowledge, *wisdom*, experience and etc. were never going to be  worth scrap unless I went back in there, edited out the BS, and replaced it with the TRUTH.  By doing this, my experience has been that FAITH, the very SUNLIGHT OF THE SPIRIT is being restored to my heart center where it can be converted at my choosing to LOVE, COMPASSION, FORGIVENANCE, and, most importantly for the creative process, GRATITUDE.

Today, I know that I have this choice, moment to moment.  Now that is really SOMETHING!!

My principal work is in the area of materials science, particularly  composite materials (such as ultra high-perfomance concrete, for example) based on discoveries of the importance of aggregate shape and packing principles.

This shape has preoccupied me for over twenty years.  It has a powerful, compassionate message for the world:  namely, cooperation is more important to evolution than competition.  As shapes go, the sphere has traditionally been the most “godly” form.  I humbly suggest, that what the sphere best represents is the ego, while the stellated tetrahedron, illustrated above, is here to represent Avatar Consciousness.

Bragging Alert!!!!

As of November 22, 2007, this shape, used as a manufactured 1/2” aggregate in a ultra-high strength concrete comparison test with the best of the state of the art, resulted in a 32,000 psi performance against the old baseline of 16,000 psi.  Ahem

What this means is that a single 2” x 2” concrete cube withstood 128,000 pounds of compressive force before it broke.  If this were basketball, it would be the equivalent of one person scoring 200 pts in a single game.

My research partner who was in a Korean lab when it happened reported that the technician who was operating the machine left the room when the dial passed 25,000 psi and retreated behind a heavy galvanized screen.  Apparently, when it broke, the machine and everyone in the room bounced to the heavy thud.
